Study helper

Use AI to understand — not only to copy. Try at least two modes.

Passage

Photosynthesis is how plants make food. They take in sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide, then create sugar and release oxygen.

Recap

What you just did

StudyModes showed different “teacher modes”: explain, quiz, simplify, find gaps. The win isn’t a completed worksheet dumped into chat — it’s a loop where you retrieve the answer, then check. If the model does all the thinking, you practiced typing, not learning.

Teach

How it works

Three modes that actually stick:

  1. Socratic — it asks you questions first
  2. Explain then quiz — short lesson, then retrieval
  3. Error coach — you show your attempt; it marks reasoning, not just the final answer

Active study recipe:

Act as a patient tutor for [topic: photosynthesis].
My level: grade 10.
Rules:
1) Ask me 1 question at a time. Wait for my answer.
2) If I’m wrong, hint once before explaining.
3) After 5 questions, give a 5-bullet summary of what I still miss.
Do NOT give me a full essay to submit as homework.

Filler-filler flashcard builder (after you’ve studied):

Turn these notes into 8 Q/A flashcards.
Put answers after a blank line so I can cover them.
Hardness: mix easy recall + 2 “why” questions.
Notes:
[paste]

Use the explain mode when you’re stuck on one concept; use quiz mode when you think you’re ready. Switch modes on purpose — that’s the StudyModes habit.

Use it

When you'd use this

  • Night-before vocabulary or formulas
  • Untangling one confusing paragraph in a textbook
  • Checking whether you can teach the idea back

Watch out

Watch out

“Write my essay” trains the model, not you — and it can invent fake citations. For graded work, use AI for understanding and practice, then write in your own words. Teachers can often tell. Also verify science/history facts against your materials.

Try next

Pick one page of notes. Run the Socratic recipe for 10 minutes. Close the chat and write three bullets from memory.
